Fives for Schools at the Westway Sports Centre

Schools' Free Club

Anyone from any school is welcome to turn up to these clubs. Please check with The Fives Manager, Howard Wiseman, before-hand.

Holiday Programmes

In School Half Terms and also the longer Christmas, Easter and Summer breaks, there will be Fives programmes running at Westway. Please contact the Fives Manager for further information, or to register your interest.

School Fives Workshops

Workshops can be booked at Westway. Times by arrangement. These can be run for you by Howard Wiseman as an advanced training session for your team's top players, with two hours of shot-drilling (run as target practice to make it fun), followed by an hour of matches if time allows. Alternatively, this can be run as an introduction for beginners, or as an "in-school" mix-around Tournament, with the excitement of travelling away to play as an official fixture at a new set of courts. Contact Howard Wiseman to discuss your needs and potential booking times.
N.B. Half-Price vouchers for these workshops are available to schools when ordering 10 or more pairs of Pilling Gloves from HBSCo.
Normal Cost ~ Ł110 for 2-3 hours.

Individual Schools' U18 Tournament

The top two sixth-form players from any school within sensible range of Westway, can take part in this exciting scheme. There will be twelve two and a half hour meetings across the season between September and the end of March, on a variety of days and times (always outside of school time). In each session, five one-set matches will be played, always with a different partner, and against different opposition. Points from every match are recorded and the winner will be the highest individual scorer at the end of the twelve sessions. This provides a unique opportunity for the top players from various schools to come together and do battle - learning all the time from the experience. At the same time, this will be a sociable experience, and an opportunity for the players to become friends off court. Indeed all of the players taking part will be given the opportunity to travel together and compete in adult tournaments and matches.
